Why do you serve?
- I serve because of the inspiration I get from my mother. She constantly puts herself last and seeks to better the lives of others. Throughout my life I have seen her repeatedly make huge sacrifices for my autistic brother, my sister, and myself, as well as numerous people in our community. Growing up, I had the privilege of learning from the Bosnian refugee family that my mom had taken in, as well as the unwed teenage mother who lived with us and many others who I came in contact with through my mom's loving and compassionate ways. I continue to learn from her everyday as she has opened a non-profit for adults with developmental disabilities, Visitation Home, that has now been open and running for over 5 years. My mom is an incredible woman who inspires me everyday to serve others and to bring them happiness and hope.
