On November 19th, 2008 The College of New Jersey Bonner Center along with 8 FSP classes, hosted a series of workshops for approximately 110 students from the Trenton School district.  Professors worked closely with their students (161) to develop and facilitate workshops for the participants. 

Workshops, Participating Faculty, and FSP Classes

1.       Workshop: “Snatch”; Learn the things you never knew about computers.  Class: Social Computing and Collective Intelligence.  Professor Ursula Wolz

2.       Workshop: “Creative Writing Workshop”  Everyone has a story to tell.  Class: To See the World in a Grain of Sand: Reading and Writing the Short Story.  Professor Kelsey Maki

3.       Workshop: “Making Books Matter”  How to really talk about books.   Class: [Some] Great Books.  Professor Diane Steinberg

4.       Workshop: “Discovering Paradise Lost”  Melodrama with Milton, Picturing Paradise Lost, or Sketching Satan.  Class: Paradise Lost & Found.  Professor Jean Graham

5.       Workshop: “In the Courtroom”  Keepin’ it legal.  Class: Law, Film and Literature.  Professor Daryl Fair

6.       Workshop: “Becoming a Real Man”  Explore the stereotypes of being a “real man.”  Class: American Masculinities.  Professor Michael Robertson                    

7.       Workshop: “Free Your Mind”   Learn about the bigger things in life.  Class: Menace to Society: The Condemnation of Philosophical Ideas in the Bertrand Russell Case.  Professor Consuelo Preti

8.       Workshop: “Does Race Matter?”  Is race still important to you: what about how you speak, dress or where you live?  Class: Race, History, and the Fictive Imagination.  Professor Piper Williams

9.       Workshop: “Are You A Team Player?”  Learn how to be a better leader and teammate.   Bonner Community Scholars

This event was only possible because of the continued cooperation and support of The Bonner Community Scholars and FSP Coordinator - Glenn Steinberg.  The coordinators for this event were Brittany Aydelotte and Liz Moody, senior Bonner Community Scholars.
