On March 4, 2009, 40 freshmen from The College of New Jersey, under the direction of the Bonner Community Scholars Program, facilitated the second annual Dr. Seuss Day for our first and second graders here at Mott School. The TCNJ Bonners and freshmen acted as mentors for our students and facilitators for the educational, fun filled activities. There were four workshops through which the classes rotated. Each workshop involved the reading of a selected Dr. Seuss book and a special Language Arts hands-on activity. A wonderful day was had by all! Many thanks to the dedicated TCNJ Bonners and freshmen. A very special thanks to Ms. Brittany Aydelotte, a TCNJ Bonner, who organized this day. We are very fortunate to have Ms. Aydelotte as a student teacher in our Middle School Language Arts department. Mott School looks forward to our continuing partnership with The Bonner Community Scholars Program at The College of New Jersey - Judith A. Wilson, Vice Principal, Mott School.
At Columbus Elementary School, 15 freshman led by TCNJ Bonners and Katherine Avila, facilitated 8 workshops for students from Pre K to 5th grade. The workshops began with a reading from a Dr. Seuss book and interactive activities - such as pin the egg on the plate (Green Eggs and Ham), create a "woket", poem writing, drawing, and other workshops.
